YouTube was formed by three former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. The first headquarters of YouTube was in San Bruno, California - between a Japanese restaurant and a pizza snack. After months of testing online, In May 2005 YouTube launched the first beta version. The goal of the operators was an easy way to give each user to upload videos and share them with other people. Within five years, it was the number three most visited websites in the world.
Only just over a year later Google purchased YouTube. The meteoric rise of the video portal seemed unstoppable. After 5 years, if we look back at the development it would have been some thing no one has imagined.
YouTube has created some areas in a whole new market situation. Those who want to watch music videos turn to YouTube rather than turn MTV on the TVs. In view of copyright conflicts to host the YouTube at the beginning, had a remarkable turnaround.
YouTube has its own star world. There are people who would not call personality today, if it were not YouTube. This also shows that, unlike in television is the power to decide what is interesting and what is not, directly at the viewer. Only the videos will become hits, which are also viewed. A controller must be from outside, if they ever will be subtle.

To celebrate the fifth anniversary YouTube has a Five Year YouTube Channel launched in. There are videos of people showed that tell how YouTube has changed their lives. Anyone can tell their own story and with some luck it will be published on the front page of the channel.
