I've been using a pc my entire "technologically awakened" life, and i'm currently running Win7. Windows 7 is a GREAT OS. windows has definitely improved since vista without a doubt. i installed it into a 4 year old toshiba and it works flawlessly. there are NO sleep/wake issues, freezes, crashes, etc. boot ups are much better, compatibility is great (since vista and win7 use same drivers) and multitasking is amazing.

apple, i do have experience with since my friend is a graphic designer and swears by his macbook/imac. i use his frequently and to be honest, theres a very small learning curve when youve been so used to the windows OS. (hotkeys, settings locations, etc.) i can see why alot of people switch to mac because of the visual aesthetics, and the simplicity of some of the programs. i honestly believe that pc's can handle everything just as easily as a mac. i see that alot of graphic design colleges use macs because that is what the expectation is nowadays. my friend didnt have any experience with mac prior to his degree, and he was forced to buy apple computers to even be in the class. not saying that the mac shouldnt be used, but windows or linux wasnt even an option.

as for the hardware and all, i dont see the need for spending 1500 for the iMac when i can do the same hardware setup for a PC for a fraction of the cost. if apple was alot cheaper, id consider it for daily minimal-type computing (surfing the web, email, chatting, etc) but for the heavy duty video/audio editing/programming that i like to dabble in, im more comfortable with windows. my $0.02.
